Today an interview with one of our founders Joey van den Heuvel.
Joey, you started Padel2Gether together with Jan van Veen. How did that happen?
That's right. 8 years ago I had the plan to open padel courts in the Westland. That failed for various reasons but I had already claimed the domain name padelwestland.nl. I did nothing with it for a long time until I was in the car with Jan last October and we talked about entrepreneurship, that we had to do something together, but what? We had already played padel occasionally and that's how the idea came about. We quickly changed the name because there is another store in the Westland called Padelshopwestland.nl That logically resulted in too many ambiguities among suppliers and customers.
We were both fanatic cyclists and with cycling there is really a kind of community feeling, we miss that in the Westland with padel. There is not really a website where you can find everything like tournaments, tournament results, tournament reports etc. We want to change that with Padel2Gether.
You already mentioned it, a community, what else should people imagine?
So we really want to be the one stop website. We want to make photos, videos and reports of tournaments. So not only of the top players but also the lesser gods like myself. How nice is it to see a photo or a video of yourself during a tournament. We also have a Whatsapp group with a lot of fanatic padel players of all levels. There is always someone who is looking for a buddy to play with.
We also work with local ambassadors. Because we believe that through such ambassadors we gain name recognition and because we simply enjoy supporting local heroes.
What we are also going to do is provide clinics for companies together with a few trainers from the Westland. We also have a webshop with various top brands such as Wilson, NOX and Siux.
